ALLTEL Review: Good service almost everywhere

ALLTEL is a wireless service provider for individual and corporate users in as 35 states in America. ALLTEL is known to provide good quality services in the states in which it has network coverage. Primarily providing wireless services using analog technology, ALLTEL has taken the big leap forward in providing services on digital platforms to its users.
Benefits of ALLTEL
High quality network in 35 states of the USA: ALLTEL currently serves only 35 states with its networks. However, customers using ALLTEL phones have few complaints regarding call quality problems in these 35 states. ALLTEL also has roaming agreements with cellular service providers to ensure that customers can use ALLTEL phones wherever they go in the United States of America.
Free minutes at night: ALLTEL offers its users free talk time in the evening. After 9 pm, you can talk for hours until the next morning, and yet not pay a dime for all this time. With an additional fee, you can upgrade this free talk time starting at 7 pm.
Wide range of new services: Traditionally, ALLTEL was known as a service provider offering only one or two services. It is now slowly shedding that tag by offering its users services like AskmeNow, MyCircle, U Prepaid, and ALLTEL WiFi. The ALLTEL WiFi allows users to use their laptops in select places in the ALLTEL network coverage in North and South America. With U Prepaid, users of ALLTEL can make many calls and send messages to a certain number by paying some money upfront.
Good customer service: With excellent network coverage in almost all the 35 states, users have few reasons to call customer service. However, if they do need to speak with a representative, customers are generally very happy with the customer service levels.
Disadvantages of ALLTEL
Network Coverage: A strategic decision taken by ALLTEL not to cover all the states in the United States of America has proven to be its biggest undoing. With a major cosmopolitan market like the USA, it is anticipated that people may have to travel in the areas where ALLTEL does not have a presence. Though, ALLTEL has roaming agreements to alleviate this problem, not all cellular service providers offer the same kind of networks as ALLTEL does.
Overall Rating (7.5/10): If you do not anticipate traveling throughout the United States, ALLTEL may be a good choice for you; it provides good coverage in your local vicinity, flexible plans, and free night minutes. However, if you do travel to the 15 states that are not covered by ALLTEL, then this service will not be ideal in fitting your needs.
